Steve’s Starting Line:
“It often takes longer than we wish to fully grasp the lessons we have been trying to understand. So don’t quit learning. ”
Today is a special day. I have turned 30 years old! I know…still a young prawn in the ocean of life, but at the same time, I feel like a nicely aging bottle of wine or cheese.
Waking up this morning, I thanked God I had the gift of 30 years of life in my lungs. With these first few breaths and thoughts, I will share 5 Lessons that Changed My Life.
Lesson #1: Time reveals what you have been investing in.
The actions and choices of my 20s are just now beginning to take shape. The way I invested my time, resources, and energy is being revealed. STEWARDSHIP is the keyword. What are you doing with what you have beengiven?
Lesson #2: You are capable of more than you think.
Fear keeps us from life. If satan and his demons can whisper lies of fear into you daily, it will keep you thinking that you are only good for where you are. You hear this enough times, you start to believe it. Where are you letting fear hold you back?
Lesson #3: Less is more. Fullness in life comes from cutting back, not adding more.
Say NO! Where are you unable to say no because you have addicted yourself to a life of hurry and distraction?
Lesson #4: Following Jesus is not about theology, church attendance, songs you sing, or a tithe in a bucket. It is about a life that looks like Him.
If you asked your friends and people on the street who know you, would they describe you as a religious person or a follower of Jesus? Are you known for your church attendance, thoughts on theology, and upright moralism or are you known for serving, generosity, and loving the hardest enemies you know?
Lesson #5: Life is too short to not go for it.
Last but not least. You only have so many days here on this earth; we take nothing with us when we die. Go all out. Take care of what has been entrusted to you and die trying to become all that God made you to be.
If this speaks to you, share it with someone who needs these lessons!
Talk soon,
Steven
